The Trustwave Premium Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate is validated to the highest degree to provide consumer confidence in the identity of the web site operator. Due to the secure nature of these SSL certificates, the ordering process does take slightly longer, and is slightly different:
- Place the order for the Trustwave Premium Extended Validation SSL Certificate via the VentraIP website.
- Configure the SSL Certificate through VIPControl and setup the email@example.com email address.
- Once your certificate is submitted, you will receive an email from Trustwave directly with a copy of their EV Validation Guide attached.
- Please complete all sections of their checklist carefully, and either email or fax it back to Trustwave on 1-888-691-0066.
- Trustwave will then email you again once the completed paperwork has been received, and begin their auditing process.
- When the certificate is issued it will be emailed to you (your client) and show within your VIPControl account.
Please note: Throughout the entire process, you will need to have access to firstname.lastname@example.org email address.

Basic list of requirements
We’re aware that some clients can find this documentation confusing, so we’ve compiled a guide on the requirements below.
Subscriber Agreement Form
This form is located under ‘Appendix A – Subscriber Agreement Form’. You will need to fill out the required information and sign and date the last page.
Certificate Request Form
This form is located under ‘Appendix B – Certificate Request Form’. You will need to fill out the required information, including the domain name that is required for the SSL Certificate. Please be sure to include all correct business information to ensure prompt processing of your Trustwave Premium Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate.
Binding Authority Letter
This form is located under ‘Appendix C – EV Binding Authority Letter’. You will need to fill out the required information, and sign and date the form.
Part of the ordering process requires the domain name to be validated as being ‘leased’ by the entity that is applying for the Extended Validation certificate. To ensure this process is completed as quickly as possible, please ensure that your domain name is correctly registered, and the contacts assigned to your domain name are correct and match the name of the nominated person applying for the Trustwave Premium Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificate. If you have domain ID protect enabled on your domain name, please remove it to ensure this process is completely successfully.
The DUNS Number is a unique nine-digit identification sequence which provides unique identifiers of single business entities. Trustwave will contact Dun & Bradstreet for further validation of the organisation, so to expedite the process, please ensure you have a DUNS number. Obtaining a DUNS number is a simple and free process, and can be done online. For further information, please visit this link.
Submit Certificate Signing Request (CSR)
You will not need to submit your Certificate Signing Request (CSR) to Trustwave (despite the instructions in their documentation). When the order is submitted through VIPControl, this is already completed for you.
Please be aware that Trustwave may also phone your organisation for further validation, so please prepare your front-of-house staff, as they may be required to comment on the lodging employee’s status (to ensure that the lodging customer is from the organisation).
