Describe your role/s at VentraIP Australia

I am one of the senior tech staff members. In my role, we are designed to be all-rounders who can overcome any issues that come up. Naturally, this includes dealing with escalations that come from technical support and other areas related to the physical hardware that we use. I am also responsible for finding and stopping malicious attacks and reading up on new technical software that can help the business. As the role is pretty demanding, I do have to be on call on a rotating 24/7 roster.

You have a first class ticket to anywhere in the world, where are you headed?

Antarctica would be next in line in terms of places I want to visit. Not because I want to see the sights or anything (given that there isn’t much there), but a mate and I actually have on our bucket list the goal of having a drink on every continent. So I would most likely land, do the deed and leave. So far we have knocked 3 continents off our list.

What do you drive and what makes it special?

The weekend car I am driving at the moment is a 1979 UC Torana – it was my first car. I got it when I was 16 and learnt in it. I love old cars – Peter Brock is  a personal hero. I am currently taking a Monaro engine and putting it in the Torana and ideally want to supercharge it

Your boss offers to shout you anything you want for dinner – what are you getting?

Tony Roma’s. They do ribs – slow cooked baby back ribs. I lived in Texas for a while! Curly fries to complement the ribs, and then Mum’s duck fat roast potatoes.

What is the best part of the VentraIP Australia office?

I had my own company for 14 years but got sick of the isolation. I actually chose VentraIP Australia due to the management and bosses as they genuinely care and want you to love your job. The attitude here is great – you could take all the perks out and it would still be a great place to work. They do not look at you as a number, they treat you as a friend …. so long as they leave my Coca Cola alone.
