What role/s do you perform at VentraIP Australia?
I am a Web Applications Developer, specifically working on the front-end part of our applications and websites. Basically, I am responsible for making sure that our interfaces are user friendly and visually appealing. The most challenging but rewarding project I’ve worked on was the recently updated VIPControl.
What do you drive and what makes it special?
I currently drive a Volkswagen Polo which has had a little tune. I’ve had it for a few years now and I absolutely love her. Feels like I’m driving a go kart and has never let me down!
How did you get the job at VentraIP Australia and how long have you been working here?
I was actually a customer for about 2 years before I applied. I was browsing Facebook one day and saw an ad for careers at VentraIP. I decided to apply for it and here I am now, 4 years later. I started off as Technical Support but had the opportunity to move into our Development team after a position opened up about 3 months after I started. I’ve been working in our development team ever since and enjoy every moment of it.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
My parents encouraged me to play piano and study music when I was growing up, but I never knew that there were career paths for that, so I always wanted to be an Architect instead. That ended up not being an option after I decided not to complete any math subjects in Year 11 & 12, which I replaced with arts and graphics instead.
I ended up studying Popular Music & Performance at JMC Academy after high school and found my passion was with music & coding. After university, I found an interest in coding and spent hours everyday just learning how to code and playing music to relax.
What is the best part of the VentraIP Australia office?
The gym is my go to place here. That and the cafe that serves us free food everyday. They create a perfect balance of working out, then eating. Also the haircuts. They’re pretty good too!
