Introducing 'Legacy' web hosting

PostedSunday April 1st 2018

Australia’s fourth largest web hosting and domain name registrar, VentraIP Australia, has today announced the launch of a web hosting service designed for customers who are firmly stuck in the past.

Known simply as “Legacy”, this new product offering aims to deliver an authentic experience using discontinued Dell 610 servers, and offer PHP4 and Apache 1.3 as standard.

When talking about this ‘new’ service, CEO Angelo Giuffrida described the need to deliver a product to this niche area of the market.

“What’s old is new again! Everybody loves a bit of nostalgia, like Yowie’s and shaker fries, and with our Legacy hosting product customers can truly feel like they have turned back the clock and experience what hosting a web site was like almost a decade ago”, he said.

When describing the hosting platform, Mr. Giuffrida went on to praise his team for ‘keeping it real’.

“In 2010, the universe gave us Ke$ha and Intel Westmere processors, and in order to deliver a truly authentic product my technical team went above and beyond by sourcing old servers and parts from eBay and Gumtree, instead of taking the easy route and signing up to a competitors dedicated server offering.”

Highlights of the service include:

  • Scheduled reboots to update the kernel.
  • Unscheduled reboots when CPU, memory and IO resources are fully consumed.
  • PIPE Peering.
  • No DDoS or spam protection.
  • PHP4 and Apache 1.3.
  • Plans offering 100MB, 500MB and 1GB of disk space, starting at $9.95 per month with no phone support.

The new service will not be available any time soon, as VentraIP Australia only provides fast, reliable web hosting, utilising the latest hosting technology. April Fools!
