Everything You Need to Know About Your Website Transfer

What details do I need to provide?

For our team to transfer your website, we will need to know the cPanel details of your current provider. 

The exact details are as follows:

  • Service IP Address
  • Service username
  • Service password

What Is My Service IP Address?

This is the IP address used by your provider to connect to your cPanel account. If you can’t find it, contact your current hosting provider for assistance.

Why is the verification step important?

If we are unable to verify your transfer details, it means there has been an error. This can be a few things. Here are the most common examples:

  • The Service IP Address, Username or Password are incorrect
  • Your hosting service with your previous provider does not have enough disk space for us to complete the transfer. We require at least 40% free disk space with your old host. If needed, you can delete old files or ask your current host for a temporary increase in disk space.

You can skip the verification process, and an eTicket will be submitted to our technical support team, who will assist you with what is needed.

I want to submit a transfer, but my current host doesn’t use cPanel

If your host doesn’t use cPanel, no problem! We can still help with your transfer, however, the process is slightly different.

This method requires access through FTP. You’ll be asked for your domain name, service IP, FTP username, and password. If you use WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, we will also require a database export. You can ask your current web hosting provider for a “database export”. 

Note: We do need login details to access your old hosting service. Without them, we won’t be able to complete the migration.

Tailored Hosting Plan

Our assisted transfer flow will allocate a tailored hosting plan to you based on the disk usage required when transferring your website, your first month hosting will be free during this process. . If you skip the verification process, we will assign the default plan. A plan change can be made at any point from within your VIPcontrol account.

 

How does the Schedule Website Transfer work?

When you book your transfer, you are prompted to select a time and date best suited to complete your transfer. Our team will endeavour to complete the transfer within that time. If we’re unable to complete your migration, our team will let you know with the next steps.
