What To Do When Hitting Your cPanel CPU Limit

Your hosting service has reached its CPU resource limits. Below is guidance on how to troubleshoot CPU-related issues and resolve them.

How is CPU usage measured?

Measures the processing time your account uses.

  • 100% = one vCPU core.
  • High CPU use is often caused by heavy traffic (genuine or malicious) or buggy/unoptimised plugins.
  • If you max out your CPU limit, new processes are delayed, which slows down your site.

How to check your CPU Usage in cPanel

VentraIP cPanel Hosting services include a Resource Usage tool to help monitor resource usage in general and identify issues.

You can access this by following these steps:

  1. 1 Log in to VIPcontrol
  1. 2 Go to My ServicesWeb Hosting and click on the Yellow cPanel Button

    Vipcontrol Cpanel Login
  1. 3 Search for Resource Usage at the top right.

    Cpanel Resource Usage Search

The tool shows current usage, historical usage graphs as well as snapshots that advise of any notable processes or queries made during a particular time.
