How does an SSL certificate protect against phishing?

While lower quality class 1 and 2 certificates only validate basic domain information, Trustwave Class 3, 256-bit certificates are fully validated to verify domain and organisation information.

By requiring organisation validation, Trustwave is making it more difficult for illegitimate companies to obtain a false certificate, thus helping to protect against phishing.
