How to setup Shopify DNS Records in Free DNS Hosting

If you have your domain name registered with us, but you’ve got a Shopify website. You can setup the appropriate DNS records to connect your domain name to your store, inside VIPControl. Here are the steps you need to take:

Before Proceeding

  • Make sure you have setup your domain name on Shopify’s end as well, this will make everything link up
  • We provide 23.227.38.65 as the A record value in this guide. It may change, so please verify that it’s correct and still matches Shopify’s guide
  • Please be advised that the bellow changes will take about 2-8 hours to propagate (take affect)

Connecting your domain

  1. Login to VIPControl
  2. Navigate to My Services > Domain Names
  3. Click Manage next to the domain name
  4. Click Manage DNS
  5. You may need to adjust your DNS Hosting before proceeding:
    1. If you see Free DNS Hosting or Web/Email Forwarding under Current DNS Configuration, continue to Step 6
    2. If you see anything else, follow these steps to enable Free DNS Hosting, then continue to step 6
  6. Click Add DNS Record at the bottom of the DNS records table/list
  7. Input the following information:
    1. Set Record Type to A
    2. Input nothing in the Hostname field
    3. Input 23.227.38.65 in the Value field
    4. Input 3600 in the TTL field
  8. Click Save Changes
  9. Click Add DNS Record at the bottom of the DNS records table/list
  10. Input the following information:
    1. Set Record Type to CNAME
    2. Input www in the Hostname field
    3. Input shops.myshopify.com in the Value field
    4. Input 3600 in the TTL field
  11. Click Save Changes
