CloudFlare is a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that you can use to help speed up your website’s load times. Under normal circumstances your website will be served to visitors by a web server that your website is stored on.
CloudFlare has many servers around the world that store a copy of your website, and the website visitor receives a copy of your website from the closest server to them. This helps speed up website load times. CloudFlare also implements a number of other features that help keep your website safe from various kinds of attacks.
CloudFlare is great if you’re expecting a lot of international web traffic, however there are some reasons why it is no longer a good idea to use CloudFlare if most (if not all) of your traffic is coming from within Australia. We have a separate article explaining the reasons behind this.
