Netorigin Acquisition – Frequently Asked Questions

What happened with Netorigin?

On 2 September 2019, VentraIP, the largest independently owned provider of web hosting and domain name registrar services in Australia, announced the acquisition of Netorigin, a Perth-based provider of web hosting, managed WordPress and domain names. 

VentraIP and its sister companies, Zuver and Synergy Wholesale, are Australia’s largest and fastest-growing independent domain name registrars and web hosting providers in the local market. The company employs more than 55 staff members in its south-east Melbourne office to deliver industry-leading service to more than 200,000 customers.

Netorigin customers will be notified by email as we begin scheduling services to be transferred to one of our three brands – VentraIP, Zuver and Synergy Wholesale.

Changes to Netorigin hosting plans

For most Netorigin customers, your web hosting plan and pricing will not be changing. Many plans are staying as they are, and a few others will be moved into very similar plans. Although a lot of plans will remain the same or similar, all services will still be migrated over to our own newer and faster hardware and receive the benefits of SSD storage, Corero DDoS protection, Fortinet Hardware Firewalls, and much more.

You will receive more information from our team at a later date to confirm any adjustments to your currently active plan. Feel free to get in touch with our team if you would like to move to a specific plan, and we can help you find the best solution to suit you.

How will my Netorigin account be billed from now on?

For the time being everything will remain the same, and you will be billed as normal via your Netorigin account. Please note that unfortunately we cannot support PayPal as a payment method in the Netorigin client area. Once services have been migrated to our platform customers can begin using PayPal again.

Please ensure you use your invoice number as a payment reference.  Also allow 1-2 business days for payments to process. This may be further delayed by weekends and public holidays.

All Netorigin customers will receive further correspondence from our team once services have been moved into their VIPControl account, at which point billing will be handled within VIPControl.

What is happening to my Netorigin domain names?

All .au domain names will be automatically and seamlessly moved over into your VIPControl account in the next few days. As Netorigin’s .au domain names are registered with our sister company Synergy Wholesale, we’re able to seamlessly move all .au domains without the need to change domain registrar.

Any gTLD domain names (.com, .net, etc) will remain manageable in your existing Netorigin account until a later date, at which point they will be moved into a legacy service management system. We will be encouraging customers to perform domain transfers over to VentraIP as soon as possible.

It’s important to note that these changes will not impact any services you have tied to your domain name (such as email or web hosting services) and these will continue to function as per normal.

If your domain does not appear in VIPControl and you’d like our team to assist you with a domain transfer, then please do not hesitate to call us on 13 24 85 or submit an eTicket via VIPControl with the request.

How do I manage my Netorigin hosting service?

Until further notice, all Netorigin hosting services will continue to be managed within your Netorigin account as normal. All active Netorigin customers will eventually have a VIPControl account created for them based on the details stored within the Netorigin billing portal.

You will receive further information at a later date from the VentraIP team regarding the migration from Netorigin to our own hardware. Once your migration is complete, all hosting services will be managed within your own VIPControl account.

Does VentraIP provide hosting based out of Perth?

We will be assessing this as an option for Netorigin customers. Our welcome email will include a link to a one-minute survey so we can get the best insight into what Netorigin customers love most about the service.

What happens to the Netorigin affiliate program?

Any customers currently participating in Netorigin’s affiliate program will be contacted with further information on claiming their pending commissions. Thereafter the Netorigin Affiliates program will be closed. At the current time, VentraIP does not offer an affiliate program however if that changes customers will be notified via email.

How do I get support for my Netorigin services?

All Netorigin customers are encouraged to continue using the Netorigin support system for tickets, and the VentraIP phone number for 24/7 phone support. Once all migrations are finalised in the near future, customers will receive further information to advise them to use VIPControl for eTicket support.
