Performing a Correction on an AU Domain Name
About .au domain corrections
A correction on an .au domain name updates the registrant details without needing to do a full change of registrant.
This is only performed in specific circumstances where:
- The registrant’s entity name on the domain is misspelt or has changed.
- If a mistake was inadvertently made at the time of registration.
- The domain has not been registered under the Trustee’s details for a Trust type entity.
- The domain has not nominated one registrant for a Partnership type entity.
Any other situation where the domain has changed ownership, or has been transferred to a new entity, you will have to perform a Change of Registrant.
Performing the correction
To see if your domain requires a correction, you will be able to see a tile within VIPcontrol that notifies you as well as an ‘Invalid Registrant’ status next to the domain.
To perform a correction on the domain, you can refer to the follow sections below for your applicable situation.
Trusts & Partnerships
Since different information is required, we have created some specific guides here with additional information to help you successfully perform a correction:
Incorrect details were submitted at the time of registration
If your domain name was incorrectly registered with the wrong registrant details at the time of registration, we will require documentation to confirm this.
We will require a Statutory Declaration that states that the domain was incorrectly registered with the current registrant details and should be registered to your proposed registrant details.
Once you have your Statutory Declaration, please submit a eTicket to our team requesting the correction, and our team will review and advise from there.
Note: The proposed ABN/ACN will need to be active prior to the domains creation date.
Please also make sure to include both the current registrant ABN/ACN and the proposed registrant ABN/ACN on the Statutory Declaration.
Registrant details misspelt or has changed entity names
If the domain names registrant details has been misspelt, or has changed name (but retained the same ABN/ACN) then feel free to submit an eTicket to our team requesting the change, and we are happy to do this for you as long as we are able to see the correct entity name on the ABR/ASIC lookup.
Need help?
If you are unsure about whether your domain is eligible for a correction or if you have any further questions or queries, feel free to contact our support team and we are happy to help!
