Different Domain Statuses and What They Mean
Your domain may display certain statues depending on its state, below is an explanation of what the statuses mean.
VIPcontrol domain statuses
You can view your domain’s status by logging into VIPcontrol navigating to My Services → Domains. This will be displayed under the ‘Status’ column here:

A full list of possible statuses is below
| Status | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Active | The domain name is active and registered. |
| Expired | Your domain has expired and is no longer active, you will need to renew the domain in order to keep it. |
| Pending |
This usually means either:
|
| Pending Transfer | The domain name transfer has been initiated and is in the process of transferring over to us. |
| Redemption | The domain is now in the redemption grace period where its the last chance to renew the domain before it deletes. |
| Invalid Registrant | The domain name’s registrant details are invalid and requires either a change of registrant or a correction to resolve. |
Registry statuses
To see a domain’s registry statuses, you can do a WHOIS lookup. These will be visible here in this section of the lookup:

The following statuses are set at the registry:
| Status Code | Explanation |
|---|---|
| addPeriod | This status indicates the domain is in the three day grace period provided after the initial registration. |
| inactive | This status indicates the domain is not activated in the DNS and will not resolve. |
| ok | This status indicates the domain has no pending operations or prohibitions, and is eligible for renewal. |
| pendingDelete pendingPurge |
This status indicates the domain is not eligible for renewal and will remain in this status for 24 hours, after which time the domain will be purged and dropped from the registry database. |
| pendingTransfer | This status indicates a request to transfer the domain to a new registrar has been received and is being processed. |
| redemptionPeriod | This status indicates the domain has expired but is still eligible for renewal or transfer for 30 calendar days from expiry date. The domain will be removed from the DNS (i.e. it will no longer work on the internet) and cannot be updated. More information can be found here. |
| serverDeleteProhibited | This status prevents the domain from being deleted from the registry. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, redemption grace periods or auDA compliance review (auDRP). |

| clientDeleteProhibited | This status indicates the domain is not eligible for deletion. |
| clientHold | This status indicates the domain’s registry will not activate the domain in the DNS and the domain will not resolve. Usually due to an auDA complaint, legal disputes or subject to deletion |
