Migrate Emails to VentraIP Dedicated Email Hosting
This guide is for migrating emails to VentraIP Business Email Hosting.
If you’re migrating emails to cPanel Hosting, please see our relevant guide here.
Before You Start
To move your emails across, you’ll need your details from your old provider:
- Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) - e.g.
mail.oldhost.comor123.123.123.123
- Email Address - the account you’re migrating from
- Password - the password for that email account
If you don’t know these details, contact your current provider.
Migration Steps
To get started, open the Migration flow from our website, and follow the steps below, no VentraIP account is required!
1. Select Service
- If you already have a service you would like to migrate into, choose it from the list.
- If you don’t have one yet, click Create a new mailbox (this will create a new mailbox for you, the first month is free).
2. Provide Details
Fill in the boxes with your current email account details, as well as your intended new email details.
Click Confirm and Add Mailbox when done and our system will validate your details.
If you are unable to resolve validation issues, you can skip validation which will create an eTicket so our team can help.
3. Final Review
- You’ll see your migration details listed, including plan size and renewal price.
- Plans are automatically sized based on your mailbox usage.
- The first month is free for each mailbox.
4. Book Your Migration
- Choose a date and time slot for the migration.
- If you require the migration to be done ASAP you can select the Queue Jump option for an additional fee and we will initiate the migration immediately.
- Our team will complete the migration in that window.
- If there are any issues or delays, we’ll get in touch.
What Can’t Be Migrated?
We can only copy emails over IMAP. The following cannot be migrated:
- Microsoft 365 / Exchange accounts
- Calendars, contacts, or tasks (CalDAV/CardDAV)
- Emails stored only on your computer but not on the server
- Any email service that does not support IMAP
If you need these migrated, you’ll need to seek help from a local IT technician.
Once migration is complete, and your domain’s DNS is updated, you can access your emails via Webmail at https://ventraip.email or use the Set Up Mailboxes Utility in VIPcontrol → My Services → Email Hosting → Manage → Set Up Email
