Everything You Need to Know About Your Email Transfer

What details do I need to provide?

To transfer your emails, we’ll need to provide us with your mail server settings from your current hosting provider so we can complete an IMAP Sync:

  • Email Address
  • Email Password

How do I find my email account details?

We recommend you contact your current email hosting provider and request your incoming mail server (IMAP), email address and email password.

What can’t be migrated?

Unfortunately, the following cannot be migrated:

  • Microsoft 365
  • Calendars / Contacts
  • Locally stored emails
  • If your current service does not support IMAP

We recommend you seek assistance from a local IT technician to manually migrate these products or services.

Why is the validation step important?

Validating your details ensures your details are correct and the transfer can proceed. If validation fails, it usually means:

  • The incoming mail server, email address or password is incorrect.
  • Your service does not support IMAP

You can skip the validation step, which will create an eTicket for our support team to guide you through the next steps.

Tailored email hosting plan

During the transfer process, we’ll allocate an email hosting plan tailored to your email’s disk usage. Your first month of email is free per mailbox. If you skip the verification step, we’ll assign a default plan — you can change this anytime via your VIPcontrol account.

How does scheduled email transfer work?

When booking your transfer, you’ll choose a preferred date and time. Our team will do their best to complete the transfer within your selected window. If there’s a delay, we’ll get in touch with the next steps.

How do I start a new transfer?
