What happens if I have a Trust ABN on my Domain?

Why am I receiving these emails if my ABN is active?

If you have received a notification that your domain is ineligible, however, the ABN is still active and that of a Trust, this usually means that they are incorrectly registered under a trust-type entity.

From 2021, auDA, which is the policy body for .au domains, made a change in which you cannot directly register a domain name under a Trust type ABN.

For the registrant details, they need to be that of the Trustee of the Trust, with their own Company or Sole Trader ABN/ACN or that of a natural person.

Under the .au domain administration rules, domains registered under a Trust will need to be registered under the following layout:

A natural person as Trustee for a Trust

Registrant: First Name and Last Name as Trustee for <Name of Trust>

Registrant ID: <Leave Blank>

Eligibility Type: Trust

Eligibility ID: ABN of the trust

Eligibility Name: <Name of the Trust>

A company as Trustee for a Trust:

Registrant: Company Name Pty Ltd as Trustee for <Name of Trust>

Registrant ID: ACN or ABN of the Company Name

Eligibility Type: Trust

Eligibility ID: ABN of the Trust

Eligibility Name: <Name of the Trust>

How do I resolve this?

To resolve this, please reply to the email that you received from us, or email policy@ventraip.com.au with the complete Trust Deed or simply just the schedule page that clearly displays who the Trustee of the Trust is, we can review and perform a correction at no cost.

Please note: If the domain has been transferred to a new entity, you will need to do a Manual Change of Registrant. Please refer to this guide here
