How Do I Renew My Domain Name if It’s Expired?
Your domain name has expired and your website and email services will or have stopped working. This is because domain names need to be renewed to keep them active.
How do I renew my Domain Name?
Renewing your domain is quite easy! You can renew your domain name within VIPcontrol using the following steps:
- 1Log into VIPcontrol
-
2Once logged in, click on My Services near the top of your screen,
then Domain Names.
-
3Click the Manage Button to the right of the domain name you wish to
renew
This will take you to the Domain Management Section.
-
4Click on Renew
Simply click the Renew button to select a renewal period and generate an invoice.
-
5All done!
Once the invoice is paid the the renewal will be processed within 15 minutes.
PayID and BPAY payments may take anywhere between 1-3 business days to process, as such we highly recommend to pay with a Card or PayPal to get your domain back up and running as soon as possible!
What happens if my domain name is expired?
Once the domain name expires, a ClientHold Status is placed on the domain. This status means that DNS resolution will stop, which you won't be able to visit your website, and any email services you have will stop working until you renew the domain.
Don't worry! You can still renew the domain name normally while the domain is in the expiry period.
.au Domains
For .au Domain Names, you have 30 days after the domain expires to renew the domain, after this 30 days, the domain will no longer be able to renew and subsequently, drop from the registry after 2 days.
gTLD Domains
For gTLD Domains like .com and .net, you have 40 days after the domain expires to renew the domain normally.
After this point, the domain will fall into a Redemption Grace Period which is a last chance to renew, you are able to renew the domain, however this does come at a higher cost and as it does vary, you will need to contact our Billing Team via an eTicket to have a restore performed on the domain name.
.nz Domains
.nz domains are very similar to gTLD domains, except you have 45 days to renew the domain normally, followed up by a 90 day Redemption Period.
