Does VentraIP take backups of web hosting services?

Please Note: For LEGACY SERVICES please refer to the section tagged specifically below.

On all of our new hosting and Business plan backups are taken automatically by an application named “Acronis”.

Even though this is in place we still heavily recommend All clients should be taking and storing their own backups on a remote host or local computer.

Backup Retention

Your plan type will influence how frequent the restore points will be available and how you access them as per the below:

Our Starter, Starter+, Freedom, Freedom+, Premier, Premier+ and all Select Hosting plans will hold on the following backups:

  • A backup for every hour, for the last 24 hours
  • A backup for every day, for the last 7 days
  • A backup for every week, for the last 5 weeks
  • A monthly backup, from the last 2 months

Our Beginner, Advanced and Professional plans will hold on to the following backups:

  • One back from 12 hours ago, and another from 24 hours ago.
  • A backup for every day, for the last 7 days
  • A backup for every week, for the last 5 weeks
  • A monthly backup, from the last 2 months

The 12-hourly backups for our Reseller plans are usually taken at 7AM and 7PM every day.

LEGACY Services

Economy and WHM Multi cPanel hosting:

For Economy and WHM Multi type services we do take backups of all cPanel web hosting services for disaster recovery purposes. These backups are able to be made available to clients as well for a small fee in the unlikely event they are required.

VentraIP advises that at no points are our own system backups to be relied upon. All clients should be taking and storing their own backups on a remote host or local computer.

At this time we currently take and store a daily, weekly and 2 monthly backups; so a maximum of 4 backup options are available at any one time, however there will be times when certain backups will match the criteria for multiple restore points:

  • Daily: Taken at 10PM each night, each nights backup run replaces the previous nights.
  • Weekly: This is anywhere between 2 and 7 days old, on any given night during the week the weekly archive will be replaced with a daily and then stored for the next 7 days.
  • Monthly: These backups will usually be 30 days or older and will be replaced on the 1st of each month.

Economy Virtual Private Server (VPS)

VentraIP does not capture and store backups for any VPS services. Backup regimes for VPS products are to be solely managed by the owner of the service; however, VentraIP makes available paid backup mount and FTP options to provide physically separate storage space.
