Does VentraIP Australia take backups of web hosting services?

On all of our new hosting plans backups are taken automatically by an application named “Acronis”, This stores recovery points for your services as far back as 30 days.

Your plan type will influence how frequent the restore points will be available and how you access them as per the below:

Hourly Acronis backups:

  • Starter
  • Freedom
  • Premier

Daily Acronis backups:

  • Beginner
  • Advanced
  • Professional

Even though this is in place we still heavily recommend All clients should be taking and storing their own backups on a remote host or local computer.

[LEGACY Services]

Business Shared cPanel hosting:

For our Legacy Business hosting customers have access to R1Soft restore points made daily and retained back one month. Where no changes are present between points the system will merge the restore points and it may display fewer points as a result.

Hourly R1Soft backups:

  • Business-Lite [Legacy]
  • Business [Legacy]
  • Business-Plus [Legacy]

Economy cPanel hosting:

For Economy type services we do take backups of all cPanel web hosting services for disaster recovery purposes. These backups are able to be made available to clients as well for a small fee in the unlikely event they are required.

VentraIP Australia advises that at no points are our own system backups to be relied upon. All clients should be taking and storing their own backups on a remote host or local computer. For more details on cPanel’s backup tools please see our article on cPanel Backups.

At this time we currently take and store a daily and a weekly backup; so a maximum of two backup options are available at any one time:

  • Daily: Typically taken between 11pm and 5am, each nights backup run replaces the previous nights.
  • Weekly: This is anywhere between 2 and 7 days old, on any given night (random per server) during the week the weekly archive will be replaced with a daily and then stored for the next 7 days.

E-VPS and B-VPS Virtual Private Server (VPS)

VentraIP Australia does not capture and store backups for any VPS services. Backup regimes for VPS products are to be solely managed by the owner of the service; however, VentraIP makes available paid backup mount and FTP options to provide physically separate storage space.

Important Exclusions

It is important to remember that shared cPanel web hosting services by default are only taken where accounts are less than 10GB in size. If a service exceeds 10GB in size (stored data within the service), as per our AUP, we cease taking and storing backups unless the backup addon is purchased through VIPControl.
