Importing a WordPress website with Softaculous or Installatron

So you may have installed or transferred a WordPress instance into your hosting account manually, but would like to take advantage of the offerings of these app installers?

Fortunately, there is a way to import an existing application such as WordPress so you can make use of such tools as backups and cloning for development purposes.

Installatron

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open the Installatron Applications Installer tool.
  3. Ensure you are in the Applications Browser tab, then click on the WordPress icon.
  4. Click the drop-down next to the Install This Application button.
  5. Click Import Existing Install.
  6. Click continue under the From this account section.
  7. Enter the directory path to your application install location (leave blank if your application is installed inside public_html).
  8. Click Import.
  9. Click the My Applications tab if you’re not already redirected there. This is where you can manage your site using the edit details/spanner icon.

Softaculous

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click the Softaculous Apps Installer icon under the Software heading.
  3. Hover over WordPress in this list, and click the blue Install button.
  4. Then, click Import among the tabs on this page.
  5. Choose your domain and protocol from the lists, and click Import.
  6. Enter the directory path to your application install location (leave blank if your application is installed inside public_html).
  7. Click All Installations in the top toolbar (box icon) and then Edit (pencil icon) to manage your site.
