Restoring Emails on Business Email Hosting Services
We take daily backups of Business Email Hosting services which, in the event that something happens to your mailbox or if you accidentally removed an important email, it’s possible to perform a restoration.
For all Business Email Hosting services, Our backups are rotated on the following schedules:
- Monthly: 2 months
- Weekly: 4 weeks
- Daily: 7 days
Performing a restoration however is not without its caveats and we recommend to only do this as a last resort.
How the restoration process works
Note: Due to how our email servers store data, backups are domain-wide instead of per account. As such we are unable to restore any individual account on its own.
For example:
Say you have admin@example.com, >hello@example.com and sales@example.com.
If we perform a restore from 2am to recover data from admin@example.com, all other email accounts under the domain (hello@example.comand sales@example.com) , will also be rolled back to 2am. This means that any emails received after 2am will be deleted domain-wide.
Requesting a restore
To request a restore, please submit an eTicket to our Technical Support Team with the date that you would like to restore back to. A member of our team will then confirm the time and restoration for you.
We highly recommend exporting your emails first before requesting a restore, you can use the following guides for your mail client:
- Archiving and exporting emails in Thunderbird
- Archiving and exporting emails in Mac Mail
- Exporting emails from Outlook 2013, 2016 and 2019
Once the restore is completed you can usually follow the same steps to import your email data again.
